In the year 1999, a phenominal event occured over the skies of the South Pacific Island known as Macross, that would forever change the course of Human History (I've always wanted to say that)
As you probably know by now, that event was the crash landing of an alien battle fortress, that was re-christened the SDF-1 after 10 years of reconstruction by the human race.
Well, during that time, Earth's scientific community poked, prodded, and researched every scrap of data they could get from the ship, including an artificial intelligence contained within the ship's main computer systems.
A good portion of the computer core (including the A.I. System) was transferred from the ship to a research facility in Tokyo before the failed fold attempt of the SDF-1 took it to the outer reaches of the Solar System.
Well, Earth's government didn't want to let the general population know that aliens had attacked, and that the entire civilian population of Macross Island had disappeared, so they said that shortly after the SDF-1 launched, a terrorist organization destroyed Macross City, killing the entire population.
And to distract the bulk of the population from the tradegy, they tasked the alien A.I. from the computer core to become a pop singer, which they used sucessfully for a couple of years.
Then the SDF-1 returned to the Earth, and shortly afterwards, Dolza's Grand Fleet of roughly 5 million ships.
And you know what happened them.
Luckly, the Tokyo research complex survived, and Dr. Lang went to work preparing for the SDF-2's (and then the SDF-3's) mission.
But he didn't trust Earth's politicians to run the government correctly, so he decided to use a spy.
He took the A.I. system from the computer core salvaged from the SDF-1 back in the day, built a robot body for it in the shape of a female, and placed the A.I. within the robotic shell.
J.A.N.I.C.E. was born.
To make sure that she could infiltrate the proper circles, he introduced "her" as his niece, Janice Em, to pop idol, Lynn Minmei, and they quickly became friends (and singing partners) and they traveled the world together with Janice feeding Dr. Lang information about the government.
And then came the wedding of Lisa Hayes and Rick Hunter.
Minmei and Janice sang at the wedding, but Minmei wanted to say goodbye to Rick one last time.
On the day of the launch of the SDF-3, Minmei attempted to board the SDF-3 and say good bye, and her shuttle was caught within the SDF-3's fold sphere, and taken to the homeworld of the Robotech Masters.
They were rescued by U.E.E.F. forces during their initial encounter with the Invid, and stayed onboard the SDF-3 as "guests".
Then came the Sentinels, and Dr. Lang programmed Janice to go along with the U.E.E.F. volunteers for the Sentinels Mission.
Within time, they discovered that she was an android, but she remained a part of the group.
Shortly after the Sentinels mission returned to Tirol, the Haydonites began to build a new robotic body for Janice with the help of the Robotechnicians, and Janice joined in the mission to bring the traitor, T.R. Edwards, to justice.
It was during that mission that she was damaged by a mutated T.R. Edwards, and died when the SDF-3 used her as homing becon for the Syncro Cannon firing which killed Edwards (very BGC of her).
But all was not lost.
Her final transmission was a copy of her A.I. to the body which Dr. Lang was just putting the finishing touches on.
She survived, and was assigned to the Deukalion for the test of the Neutron-S missile in the Omnicron Sector.
The test had disasterous results, nearly destroying the Deukalion and crippling the SDF-3.
A rescue mission to aid the SDF-3 was forced to return to the U.E.E.F. fleet in Earth Orbit in order to warn them, under no circumstances were they to use the Neutron-S Missiles on Earth, but they had the Deukalion in tow.
Unfortunetly, all hands onboard the Deukalion were killed, and the damage deactivated Janice.
She was discovered by Dr. Louie Nichols, and reactivated.
Unfortunetly, due to her half Haydonnite construction, she was declared a traitor, and ordered imprisoned by Vince Grant.
But, while she was be escorted to the brig of the Ark Angel, a small amount of Haydonite mecha boarded, and attempted to destroy her, only for her to be rescued by Vince Grant in a new model cyclone.
She now has been assigned as Dr. Nichols assistant on board the Ark Angel, and it's mission to find the SDF-3, and it's Protoculture Matrix, before the Haydonites do.
